This story is quiet for a while..
I've just got a brand new 90mm lens. I read all about clunk when lens is not powered up, but what really bathers me, is the hissing noise when it's powered up and you move it around.
Even worse than that, when you switch to view images back and forth, the clunk is very noticeable.
This is all happening on X-T1. Is there anything in setup to keep lens powered up during image viewing?
Any feedback from 90mm owners is welcome...thanks.
P.S. One of the reasons why I went 90mm vs. 56mm is the noise inside the lens. I find now that 90mm is even worse. The image quality is top notch, no complains at all.
My hearing has been damaged from too many years playing in bar bands. The noises from my Fuji lenses don't bother me with the exception of the 18mm and to a lesser extent the 35 1.4
I can feel the clunking around more than actually hearing it in the 90 and 50-140 in particular.
Not sure there is anything that can be done about the noise other than keeping it powered up.

How about image viewing...is there anything you can set up that lens stays powered up all the time?
Any time you view an image, you have the same effect on the lens like you power up or down camera.
I had X-T1 a while back and I don't remember this was happening or just the lenses I owed at that time don't highlight it as much as 90mm lens.
BTW, thanks for replay!

I don't own the 90 but from what I've read on the 'net, it's the nature of their focus motors that are doing this. Normal operation, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
If one isn't shooting video, and the lens isn't defective, seems silly to worry about the noises it makes. Its surely a trade-off of the linear AF system in exchange for the very fast AF
