I just got the Fuji 90/2 in for review, and thought I'd start a rolling impressions thread. I've had it in my hands for a whopping 15 minutes, so the first thoughts:
Physically, it's a 56mm f/1.2 that's been pulled straight up. Same diameter, but longer. Balances pretty well on the X-T1. It's not small, but it's not super huge either. Very solidly built (at least it feels that way). Like the 56mm, the focus element stays loose when the lens is powered down, and this one is pretty hefty, so you can hear a solid thunk if you tip the lens up and down.
In the great rolling lottery of Fuji aperture ring tightness, the 90 gets a gold star - nice and firm with absolutely zero slop. This is the first prime I've tested with a nice firm aperture ring (the two f/2.8 zooms both were very nice as well).
AF seems pretty quick overall on first blush - but only checked in one environment. Image quality: well, it's sharp at f/2, that's for sure. Bokeh look smooth in the one shot I've taken. Lots more to come!
Ok, some more shots. These are all at f/2. I did take a few test shots stopped down, of course, and I'm sure I will take more, but those aren't anything to look at. I will say, it's sharp corner to corner stopped down. And, well, it's darn close to sharp corner to corner at f/2. At all focus distances. Good sharpness even at infinity and f/2. Bokeh is phenomenal, provided you like smooth creamy bokeh. It focuses pretty darn close too: 0.6m is very close for a 135mm equivalent.
Looks like another great Fuji prime. I have the 56 and the 23 but I'm frustrated with Fuji's inability to produce a higher resolution body. They can't keep pumping out updates with the same 16 megapixel sensor.

Indeed. I think the X-T10 has to be the end of the line for it. Time to freshen things up a bit.
Jordan, I know the FOV and aperture isn't the same but how does this lens compare against the Olympus 75mm f1.8 for m4/3.
Hard to say at this point. The 75mm might be ever so slightly sharper stopped down (which isn't a knock on the Fuji...the 75mm is among the sharpest lenses I've ever used.), but in any case it's very close. I can't say definitively because I haven't had the 75mm for about 2 years.
Bokeh wise, I think the the 90/2 has perhaps the most perfect bokeh on any lens I've used. It's super smooth and creamy, but not overly soft like some lenses that have high spherical aberration. Specular highlights are absolutely perfectly evenly illuminated. So far, and again, it's early, I haven't seen any lens aberrations, though my tested conditions are fairly small at this point, save for some very light fringing at high contrast edges wide open, though that is still extremely well controlled for a fast lens.
It's a nice closeup lens for flowers and such too.
To me it's nearly silent. You can hear it if you're in a dead quiet room and have your ear close, but otherwise no. I don't find the 56mm to be a loud lens by any means, but the 90 is notably quieter.
