I've been doing Rylie's pictures since she was just 2 years old - it's been so fun to get to know her family and watch it (and her) grow! I had such a wonderful time taking these colorful portraits of her in this massive field of wildflowers! I try to shoot in these wildflowers at least once or twice every spring, but I have NEVER seen a field so beautiful, lush, or massive. It stretched for miles in every direction - it was absolutely amazing! We had a great, wet winter and that resulted in the best spring flower bloom I've seen here since becoming a photographer 9 years ago. Not just these orange flowers, but wildflowers in so many beautiful colors (you can see some of them on my BLOG ). Here are some of my favorites - #5 was my very first 99.9 on 500px.

Thank you!! I honestly don't remember. Honestly, sometimes I just select an exposure (based on what I know generally works for a given location/lighting situation) then tweak as needed.

Wonderful shots. I'm a fan. I'm going to have to re-check my monitor, however. I see red, not gold. Field of Gold is a great title.
I like the DOF you chose. Seems to work very well.

Wow! As is evident in almost all your photographs, it is a mix of an amazingly talented photographer, superb equipment and fantastic PP skills.
4 and 5 are stunning - Don't need too much detail but just curious about the general steps you took for 4 and 5. Did you have to bring the details in the sky and subject separately and then use PS to blend?

The title is on the money, so to speak. It's a metaphor for the value of the location, not the color of the flowers. We're all so caught up in Lisa's mad photog and editing skills that I don't think she gets enough credit for constantly finding these amazing locations to shoot at. Put all three together (location/shooting/editing) and you get these brilliantly epic photographs by Lisa.

Again I love your work and the way that you do pre-visualization. It's nice to have the location and then plan. And I see that you must have done SOME planning.

Makes sense, Ron. I'll hold off on the monitor check.
