That is such a cool view, and I'm glad you got nice weather.
Nice shots Dave!
It wasn't frozen over when I was there.
We were told by our hotel in El Chalten that the last 2 groups before us did not see the mountains - so we were most fortunate!

Love the first image ... the composition works really well with the glob of darker ice protruding into the foreground. The colors are nice too with the mix of warm and cool. I might desaturate the blues within the shadows of the mountains just a touch, but otherwise they look fine. There does seem to be a bit of a halo on the upper left rock formation which I would work on smoothing out as well. Perhaps a bit more DOF would have been helpful in the very close foreground, but it totally works just fine as is regardless. What a great experience I'm sure this was!...Show more →
Chris - thanks for the detailed comments. Great suggestion to desaturate the blues in the mountain shadows. That will definitely help on printing. Sharpening for web is a challenge for me - especially trying to shrink 36 MP files. More to learn in PP! Also the lesson I learned is to DO MORE FOCUS STACKING! I did this a lot but not at this angle.

The first one is my favorite! Did you climb any of those peaks?
Nope. I'm a walk up the mountain kind of guy. Those are way out of my league.
The first one really helps convey how cold it was better than the others. The morning colours reflected in the ice is awesome. The colour in those trees over on the left is also great. Maybe try and bring that out a bit more? Although it might distract too much.
