I was on phone this morning with sigma tech, and by the way the gentleman I was talking with, was as sharp as freshly sharpened pencil. Very knowledgeable with regards to the C&S and courteous. The comments below is what the Tech had to say.
With regards to the dock when changing the OS to dynamic from the default, you are slowing down your AF speed. Perhaps that is why you felt you had to change focus to focus priority.
With regards to the C vs the S, there is no difference optically, even with the more elements in the S, they are there because of weather sealing... the S is more for the pro who will be in all kind of elements. Contrast the same, etc, etc. Bottom line, its the construction of the two that makes the difference..

I expect to receive our 150-600 Sport today and already have a Sigma TC-1401 waiting for the lens. 840mm was one reason I decided on the Sigma. So very eager to see what you will get.
On our side, the issue is we are also expecting our second son in a few days, and 150-600 is not exactly a lens to test on newborns So it will probably be a while before we get a chance to do any testing of our own!

This is what the manual says about the default setting and the focus priority:
Standard
Switch to default setting, which achieves both smooth operation and fast AF drive speed.
Focus accuracy-priority
Prioritize smooth focusing. It can offer very smooth operation around the point of focus.
Hard to know the difference between fast AF and smooth AF. What does that really mean?
Here is what it says re the OS
Dynamic View Mode
This mode offers a recognizable OS effect to the image in the viewfinder. This helps to ensure the
composition of images quickly.
Standard
This is the default setting. The OS effect is well-balanced and suitable for various scenes.
So according to what you are saying, who cares about the view in the view finder? Let it shake a bit as long as the image is stable that we are shooting. Makes sense. Will restore default and try (time and weather permitting ) to get try it tomorrow. Will report on results....Show more →
It's going to be interesting to see what your in the field experience and comments is going to be, with regards to the various dock settings. Compared to what the Tech said.
Also looking forward to see your findings once the Sig 1.4 is added..
With regards to the OS, I was told that there are three settings for it, and the default is in the middle, so the first settings may be the fastest to acquire AF. However if the default is in the middle and is gitterey, I am wondering what the first setting is going to be like. Check that one out, and see what you think.

They only did it for a very short time. Then they would flycatch some more and come back. After a while it is very hard to hold steady. If I had to do that with an extra 2 pounds I am 100% positive that I would have missed the shots.
As for Sigma S, I figured it is almost the same weight as our 200 f/2, which I usually handhold for short durations, and use either a tripod, or at least a monopod for any longer durations of shooting. I suppose it will be the same with my Sigma S.
And yes, I will certainly post pictures if I actually get a chance to shoot with it

I just read somewhere that Sigma is making another foot for this lens, but it is pricey and not available yet.

Tonight was a mixed bag, some good, some not so good. Too late to post images but I will tomorrow. Out of curiosity, does Sigma's OS work the same way as Canon's IS?
Shooting with the 150-600 C tonight, the OS never seemed to settle the image in the viewfinder as effectively as Canon's IS. I tried both OS settings and I tried turning it off but it just seemed to me that the Canon variant has a reassuring 'lock' response in the viewfinder while the Sigma OS continued moving, though fluidly. The shots aren't wildly out of focus so it must be working, right?

From the description and the look of it, I think this foot is only for the Sport version and not Contemporary. And even then, at $238, I decided to pass and go with a Wimberley P-50 for now.

When I had the Sigma 150-500, I had my strap attached both at the tripod and at the bottom of the camera, felt it both gave me better balance and it was more secured that way.
So it will probably be a while before we get a chance to do any testing of our own!
