p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Primary Colors of the Clay Lick

These images were shot in the Manu jungle of Peru in July 2014. Still doing PP on images from that incredible trip.

First few were taken at the Manu Wildlife Center's clay lick, and the rest during a single morning at the nearby Blanquillo clay lick. If you are ever in that area, I highly recommend a trip to Blanquillo.

All shot with the 1DX + 500 II.

Thanks for stopping by

Jim

Great shots. Although all the parrots tend to steal the show with their bright colours, I have to say that the wing pattern on that bittern is something else. Is that where it get the "Sun" in its name from as the pattern sort of looks like a sun with rays? #14 is a killer shot with both in flight.

Love the sun bittern with its wings spread. I didn't get that shot when I was in Brazil. Also the blue-headed parrots are superb.

Wonderful set Jim,

but I like the Blue-headed & the Sun Bittern the best. Both because they're new birds to me. I've had parrots for a huge part of my life, but I've not ever heard of that one.

So how do you outdo the most colorful macaws? You post a sun bittern which must have been the source for the Phoenix...what an amazing, amazing feather pattern....just gorgeous...but you get one of these for waiting so long to post these beauties...so take that sir!

What an awesome set JIM. I love the various colors on these birds. I also love the pattern on that bittern's wings, it looks almost butterfly ish.

Nice colorful set, Jim! Must've been amazing to see all those macaws and parrots on the clay lick. The sun bittern is also quite stunning. Keep the Peru shots coming!

As colorful as the various macaws and parrots are, the most interesting to me was the wing patterns on the bittern. TFS.
