Great shots. Although all the parrots tend to steal the show with their bright colours, I have to say that the wing pattern on that bittern is something else. Is that where it get the "Sun" in its name from as the pattern sort of looks like a sun with rays? #14 is a killer shot with both in flight.

Hi Geoff, when that sun bittern took off and showed those wings I gasped and felt like the luckiest guy in the world to see him fly. Truly a highlight. Thanks for the comment.

Love the sun bittern with its wings spread. I didn't get that shot when I was in Brazil. Also the blue-headed parrots are superb.
Don
Thank you, Don. I was lucky that morning to see the bittern. Looks like you need to go back!

Wonderful set Jim,
but I like the Blue-headed & the Sun Bittern the best. Both because they're new birds to me. I've had parrots for a huge part of my life, but I've not ever heard of that one.
Lil
Thank you for the kind words, Lil - and I'm glad you found a couple new ones here.

So how do you outdo the most colorful macaws? You post a sun bittern which must have been the source for the Phoenix...what an amazing, amazing feather pattern....just gorgeous...but you get one of these for waiting so long to post these beauties...so take that sir!
Eric
Hey - I know you can relate about the PP backlog, Eric. Thanks for the comment!

Nice colorful set, Jim! Must've been amazing to see all those macaws and parrots on the clay lick. The sun bittern is also quite stunning. Keep the Peru shots coming!
Thank you, X. I will keep working on them. It was indeed a great trip!
