I use the 300PF with the 1.4x and 2.0x version III TC's

D500 = -4, -4, +4
The corrections for the 2.0x looks a bit odd to me, but it was double checked.
My D850 probably should go into Nikon for a fine tune because every lens/TC combo needs negative values. But I've managed to fine tune and stay within the -20 range (worse offender being the 300PF/2x) so I'm not sure I want to ship this off to Nikon or not??

Just ran through a couple of pages from this lens. .... Wow! Light-weight, compact and sharp.
I was amazed when I opened the box! Extremely light weight...about the size of a 24-70mm. I was used to carrying around the Sigma 120-400mm (which, by the way, is for sale..). Even with the TC 1.4 it's small.
To be honest, the feather detail is really lacking in the Blackbird and Grebe, and not great (lacking micro-contrast between each feather) in the Warbler.
Sorry Geoff, could not resist that one.
Seriously though, I can't see anything there that shows any benefit of the D850 over the D500.

p.s. Had our first Rufous arrive yesterday, and was surprised it was a female, since we have not seen any males yet.
well the shots of the swallows in flight to be honest are also lacking in detail, and that is with the d500...i think maybe the ability to crop the files is being pushed too far

Difficult to judge on web size images, but they look good to me for such an extremely fast/agile subject. Maybe 1/6400 isn't fast enough for critical sharpness? Do you have much sharper images of the same subject?

I have yet to see a Rufous and was hoping a male would arrive (as they usually do first) as I've never had shots of a male before. I will keep my eyes out for them this week.
There are some benefits to the D850 over the D500 but they aren't involving IQ for cropped shots. All the shots above are contained in the DX frame so no different than the same shot on the D500. Actually I sort of prefer the noise on the D500 vs D850 for a shot of the same subject, same distance, same lens that only falls into the DX frame. I'll try harder next time.
I will say that the FM upload feature is noticeably destroying detail in the shots. So this would be the same for shots you are uploading. I did a few posts with direct Flickr embeds and the details show up how they should (look the same as my exported jpeg on my computer).
