Jordan, excellent review. Its nice that the NX500 announcement coincides right with your review So far it seems to inherit much of the NX1 core, so I would be very interested in trying it out when it hits the shelves. What I like about samsung lens lineup is that it includes both the compact lenses like the 30mm f2 pancake and 16mm f2.4 for the times you need a small setup, as well as big guns like 85mm 1.5 and 16-f2-2.8 when you need that capability, making it easier to adopt it as your only system. And most of the lenses are fairly affordable. As much as A6000 is an excellent camera, I am just not able to build a satisfactory lens system around it.

Anyone think there will be an NX50 with EVF? I'd be really curious to try something like that as a sideline camera for near field action 'oh s**t' grab shots... Sure, the NX1 could work there, but something even smaller would be nicer.

Great review. Thanks for all the effort. With the announcement of the NX500 which drops at $799/w a kit lens, trying the new Samsung sensor just became a lot more affordable. You do lose the EVF, mic input, 120fps video and only 9fps instead of 15 -- but you retain 4k video, the great LCD and the new AF system. Looks like a good, compact backup option for a DSLR.
Indeed. I just picked up the great Rokinon 12mm f/2 for my Fuji system... but now I'm wondering if I'd be better grabbing the NX500 and getting the NX mount version of that lens for more resolution.

I bought my Rok's in EF mount, can use them on any mirrorless with a cheap adapter and used lenses will probably sell easier. If you're planning on keeping long term, YMMV. Cheers.

Thats a good point. For lenses like rokinon 24mm 1.4 and 16mm f2 which are basically SLR designs with a built-int adapter this makes sense. However the rokinon 12mm f2 is a mirrorless design so this doesn't work here.
The NX500's price might be too hard to resist. Touch screen and 4K is enticing. It's now the cheapest 4K camera with a 1" sensor and bigger. I was looking at the LX100 as a video camera with the eventual thought of using it on my drone one day, but this NX500 looks like a better bet.
I looked at their lens selection on BH and did not find it overly compelling. The pancake primes are, but I would only need one. The prices on those pancakes are also right. An NX500 kit + a pancake prime is about the same cost as an LX100 or RX100M3.
