Jim,

I like the way you captured natural glow and the dynamics of the waves.

Sasha.

Great shot Jim. You sure got a nice sky that evening and you captured those highlights perfectly. Love that section of coastline from Cambria up through Big Sur!

I am glad you liked it Andrew, it was really cool to watch the way the colors highlighted the various clouds.

Jim,

Nice catch at Big Sur. I haven't luck with my Big Sur shots. Kept getting skunk light. This is really nice. I like the water movement, the way it fans out like that. Colors are wonderful.

Thanks Jason, I don't get up to Big Sur too often, but I have been pretty fortunate with the sunset color. On this shot I was actually shooting at some really cool sea stacks about 1/4 mile south of this location, but as the color started to hit the clouds, it dawned on me that the waves were just not developing right in the foreground.

Excellent image, Jim. My one thought regarding composition is that I'd like to see the image shifted just a bit to the right as it feels a bit off centered now. With that said, the processing is absolutely nailed. The clouds are bright and beautiful while being natural and full of texture. Really nicely done. The way the light is playing on the beautifully textured water is so enjoyable to look at. Overall, I'm quite liking this one.

Hey Chris, glad you liked this, and I appreciate the thoughts on the composition. In setting this up with the sun slightly off center it felt that it was being balanced by the way the waves were rolling in. I have a couple of shots with it centered, but I ended up liking the slightly off centered front to back view.

Jim, beautiful handling of the light. I love the way you have somehow kept as much integrity of the sun reflecting in the water as you did. Much more detail than I would have expected in those water conditions.
Very nicely done!!

+1 What others have said. Plus, BIG wall space needed for this gem!

Exposure time?

Glad you liked it! Shutter speed was 1/5th of a sec, which is always my starting point for water movement shots.

Thanks!
