p.1 #1 · Please Mr. Sony, what I wish for Christmas

I have used Sony A7 for a year now and I love it.
Especially with the 55/1.8 I’m in heaven.
It’s soon Christmas time and I hear that Sony is coming, so this is what I wish for:

Well I'm not sure how to take a picture with that camera but it's a cool idea. While you are at it I'd love the rear thumb grip (not shown) to be a touchpad allowing me to move the focus point around the frame while tracking in the viewfinder. Also I wouldn't mind a little more thickness in order to fit the steady shot mechanism. Also a pinky grip would be nice... but the aftermarket may make it.

Something like that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Glass
And touch screen even without tilt is much better idea IMO.

have to say that's one ugly camera, what are the dials for?
Shutter speed, aperture, ISO and Exposure compensation?
IMO pretty much X-T1 nailed the design, now if only they would release a FF camera.
I prefer having the aperture dial in the lens.

I was thinking about my dream camera body too yesterday and thought where to put the ISO and something like what the Leica M film cameras have would be nice, especially the M7

I have been dreaming too, but I had not thought of the tilting evf to replicate a chimney finder for low angles. I like that. Also, large enough for 2 card slots, a well damped shutter, a battery that will last at least 500 shots, and a deep enough body (front to back) for it to be really solid on a tripod with longish lenses, and...

That is one terrible looking prototype IMO. I love dials but this is a bit overboard....

I'm not a fan of the split, but shouldn't this be on the Sony forum now ?

I want the camera as small as possible with extra add-on options when needed.

Size comparison

Have to say that looks horribly uncomfortable with that small/thin of body.

The shutter placement already is pretty bad on the A7 series (sans mkII) so trying to pinch that thin gripless body between my fingers and thumb and then somehow bend my index finger to the top plate to actually hit the shutter....uggh.

Sorry mate, but saving a few mm's body thickness and totally killing the ergonomics wouldn't sell

How did you make that prototype...Mathcad?

I do like the tilting view finder (love that feature on the GX7).

Seems unlikley to be able to pack the electronics of a good sized EVF and the hotshoe into something not only that small, but that also tilts

I did like it on the GX7 as well, but really only seemed to use it at about a 30 degree angle. Never really needed total vertical and if/when I did, the flip out LCD seemed to work better.

Kind of makes you wonder though why we don't have a tilt angle to VF"s, like 10 or 15 degrees, given how it actually seems a bit more natural and would allow one's nose not to have to be pressed against the LCD

Maybe if the LCD didn't get that steady supply of nose oil they would get brittle and crumble away during the drier winter months lol

could create a nice niche market for sellers of "lcd oil" lol

Where does my bigger battery go? Or any battery, for that matter?

The red box is of the same size as the NP-FW50 battery.

The 3d model is made in rhino.

Looks extremely uncomfortable to hold. Too thin...and why would I want all those dials.

Don't quit your day job would be my suggestion.
