I think the lone tree motif can be overdone but this shot removes the cliche and takes it to a very nice place. The various layers of fog in the background are just wonderful and give the main tree some company in the thinner places. Well framed and the conversion is right on point. So, this is excellent.
Thanks for all the new responses. It seems that it is a pretty even split between preferring the original image and the cropped version. I also am wavering between the two. Maybe I'll just print both, hang both and then decide!
BKphotography--glad it wasn't a "Tree in Frog"--that would have been pretty weird!
Hi Ron! A truly stunning image in every way. The processing is incredible ... love the way you made the foreground so dark. It really provides a nice base for the scene and transitions right up into the tree to help provide a sense of stability and solitude. The background is a separate thought from the tree but it sure is a strong one. The pine trees offset and contrasting the deciduous tree, the shapes of the fog, it's all so beautiful and well done. Love it!
