Cool shot. I could spend a whole summer there.
In your long serenade you forgot,
"A place where you can buy home made pie to go at the Park Cafe and enjoy the sunset a la mode". Not that I'm a bakery fanatic or anything, but a very important feature to include.
David
Haha David, looks like you have given me one more experience that I will have to return for. The main cafe/tourist centre was closed for both of my visits here! What's the name of that dark berry the entire cascade region seems obsessed with? Ill try a peace of pie with whatever it is next time!

I know that place very well. Beautiful fall shot.
That location is one of the most demanding on dynamic range. The vertical relief is just immense and the steep slopes and ridge of Mt Cannon just to the right of the frame block the light from the sun hours before sunset during the summer months.
Thanks! this wasnt an overly tough shot if im honest. It is a 3 shot blend for detail and clean shadows throughout, but the majority of the frame is from a single capture. If I wasn't so worried about print quality a single shot would have been fine. I do agree though, for those looking to visit this vista try and come when the sun is setting furthest south. I bet it would be in the frame by now if the road is still open.
