Fred, please move this thread.
You'll manage. There are a lot of people here who shoot multiple systems so I think the discussion is valid.

I don't want the opinion of Nikon purists hence this thread. It's nice to get contrasting opinions which has occurred often in this thread. I'm appreciative of posters who can handle the seemingly controversial subject to me that says a lot about the mindset of many canon shooters who feel disappointment but would rather ignore it and hide from it. I like anything camera related so no subject or placement would ever even begin to upset me.

As evidence it has already hit page 4. I just don't understand people that have no interest in a thread coming into the thread and wasting their time.
I personally don't have any first hand knowledge of Nikon cameras, but I do use the Nikon 14-24 lens and it is stellar. I also use the Nikon 21mm ais lens and it is also a great lens. Image quality from these optics is top notch and their build quality is right up there with my Zeiss lens. The only issue I have with the 14-24 is it's lack being able to easily use filters.

Not really. I think until you have another camera make to compare to, the pro's and cons are not that evident. Here in the Canon form there are many who have used both makes so the feedback here is very valid.
Now, maybe posting in the Nikon form as well would provide even more feedback.
wow...can't believe I'm going to do this but here goes...
What's the problem here? I mean I read the OP's original question and I just don't get it...
What do you like/dislike about Nikon?
Seems simple enough. No controversy... No trolling... Just a straight up question about your subjective experience regarding the other "top dog". This is "FRED MIRANDA" right? Where adult photographers come to play?
I don't get the hand wringing... I don't get the complaining...
There are a lot of people who are curious about what the real world differences are between Canon and Nikon and this is another way to consider those differences based on individual experiences. Sounds pretty legitimate to me....
But if you don't like the thread, move on...
And if you *really* don't like the thread, call Fred directly and ask for his intervention. Better to let Fred decide than to jam the thread up with a bunch of chatter about what's wrong with the thread. That just makes it harder to read the posts (like mine for instance ) that are at least trying to answer the question.
Honestly I just don't see what the hub-bub is about Bub...

When I click on the Canon Forum "For discussions on all Canon compatible gear", I'm looking for Canon specific information.
A thread titled "What do you like/dislike about Nikon" obviously, painfully obviously does not belong in the Canon Forum.
That's what the hub-bub is all about, bub!
Or do I now have to click on the Nikon Forum to find Canon related topics? Because I NEVER click on that forum. I don't own Nikon equipment.
Hello?
wow....
What is being woefully missed by so many is that a discussion of positives and negatives about the competition fits perfectly in a discussion forum for Canon gear.....
So simple a caveman can get it...or even an open-minded Canon user...
What better way for a Canon user to decide if it's time for a change than to hear how CANON USERS feel about the competition...both good and bad?
Just like the OP already stated-he didn't want the input from Nikon users. He wants input from CANON USERS.
It would be interesting to hear from photogs that own both systems and the headaches of using them interchangeably on a shoot. Does anyone do this and if so, what are the roadblocks you encounter.
At one time I was considering purchasing the D800e to use with my 14-24...and keeping all my other Canon gear. Just wondering what complications I should expect while switching systems.

Have you looked into the ND throttle? I have it for my rokinon 14 + a7r. I've only used it briefly and it seems to work. 2-8 stops of filtration I think, super convenient I might add. Generally, I dont use GND's, but if you do, then this may not work.

I've shot both lower-end systems at once, the T3i and the D5200. Not sure if this'll help you, but here goes...
I found that the shooting process itself was simple enough. Sure, the controls are slightly different, but you know when you're holding what and adjusting settings isn't confusing at all. Same with lenses. Yeah, the rotate opposite ways, and you might rotate the wrong way initially, but you catch on quickly and I didn't miss any shots due to this. The biggest difference I found came after the shoot, on the computer. As I don't have Lightroom, I had to open both proprietary raw viewing softwares, which was a pain because I found Canon's software much laggier and less intuitive. Not a big deal, but it slowed me down a bit. You probably wouldn't have that problem, as I assume you're already using Lightroom. The next issue was batch editing - it's just not ideal. Getting the right white balance and tint for one camera would result in the wrong settings for the other, so at least two batches were necessary, and even after individually editing the images you can notice a slight WB/Tint difference. Also, I found that the Canon files were a lot more saturated in the reds and greens, whereas the Nikon's were more subdued. This may or may not be an issue, depending on how consistent your images need to be. Still, it's easy enough to bump the saturation of the Nikon to match Canon, but there's still more gradation of colour which is just noticeable.

Well if this thread were put into the Nikon form, you would not have seen it since you claim you never look in the Nikon form...so it being right here has actually benefited you. Now what's your beef?

I use both ND filters and polarizers, quite often at the same time.
