p.1 #1 · Another 20D star trails

I miss the battery grip! I got 74 minutes of exposure (ten exposures of 7 mins 40 seconds)
with a gap of one second between, before the battery died. This time I used JPEG. No problem. While the composition isn't my most elegant, i'm too tired to go out and do it again.
ISO 200, using 17-40L at 17mm. Noise is virtually non existent. I did a USM
of 115/2.4/4 and a color adjust. No need to change levels. I'm learning this camera
and I'm impressed.

Great shot again Art! I'm really impressed by the quality. My 1D sure isn't capable of producing this! (lots of noise)

Don't you have a DC coupler with it? Then you could power it directly from your house and start making really long exposures! ;-)

No DC coupler, Im afraid. That went with the sale of the D30. Good idea.
I'd love to have no-limit power. Right now I've set a single shot of
80 minutes, to see how that works out. I'll know in about an hour.

I would be very interested how that works out. I love reading about your techniques, like making one photo out of ten. And I'm very interested wether that gives a better result than one long exposure.

Some happy medium between all the techniques will come about, due
to the improved quality of the 20D file. We'll see in the next few weeks.
and thanks for enjoying my work.
