is there a mock up at photokina? why no pics yet?
Voigtlander is typically slow at releasing production lenses of announced and or show lenses it seems. That 40 was shown already back in March or so and is expected to be released first sometime in October. The others are not expected until Spring 2015 I believe.

I thought their styling was going in the direction of the 21/1.8 I'm surprised to see this be even more retro than the original 35/1.7. I'm definitely interested in trying one though, the original had too much CA for me.

The fact that this new one has an updated optical design with more elements may mean that the CA has been corrected. I'm very curious to see how the new one performs.

CA is easily corrected in post. My copy is very sharp WO, and stopped down even more so. Granted it doesn't have 1.2, but it's smaller than my 50 1.5 Nokton, and focuses like a charm. It also has incredible pop, too. Going to be a tough decision between this one and the new ZM 35 1.4...but I'm already thinking I want the new Ultron...

The decision will likely be about $1500 easier for me if this lens delivers as expected.

I could save you even more and sell you my current version before the new one is released!!

Well that took a long time to announce! Excited for the image quality, not so much the ergonomics. Could be a very good 35mm option for the Leica and Sony camp

The LTM version I had for quite awhile. It was really a great lens. Small, sharp, and an awesome signature look. This looks to be promising(pure speculation, of course!)

Any chance this will work well on the Sony?
We will have to wait and see for sure. But if I would have to guess: yes, it will probably work well. Nokton 35 1.2 is a great performer on the A7-series. And the new A7r II with BSI sensor should be probably even better with this one
