You can download the latest firmware directly from Canon's website. As for reverting, I think Canon claims you can't revert back but I did it several times back when there was no version of magic lantern for the updated 5D3 firmware so it's not an issue. I think there's also a thread on magic lantern's forum that provides links to current and past copies of the firmware. As for getting magic lantern, you just go on their webpage and download the nightly builds for your camera and firmware version. For DualISO you'll also need the post-processing tools for the dual ISO files which can be found here. Although if you're using Lightroom there's a really nice plugin that handles all of the post-processing for you as an export so that's very highly recommended and a link to it can also be found at the previous posted link.

Good to hear it is trivial to revert to stick firmware. Thanks for the information about where to download and how to process. Will definitely try out the Lightroom plugin. This seems perfect for me, as I occasionally take landscapes and other high DR photos for fun and not professionally. Any stability issues that you have noticed in the last year?

No, the current builds are extremely stable. The only issue I've ever had with any version of magic lantern was with the early builds of the 5D classic branch, but that only required me to pull out the battery to unfreeze the camera, and that build was never well supported anyway.

Final question: did you find the need to recalibrate all of your lenses after installing ML or does it work fine with the same AFMA settings you had in the stock firmware?

Good question, I've never noticed a difference and I don't see any reason ML should affect the AF but I've never really done a controlled test so I can't say for sure.
This is very nice, esp with the LR plugin. I will definitely give this a try. it looks like you dont really loose all that much compared not using it. I will do some test runs on it.

Workflow was a much bigger issue before the LR plugin. Now it's just a matter of importing the files and then Right Click-->Export-->MagicLantern and the files are converted and appropriately tagged. Looking forward to other's impressions of DualISO though.
So I just installed the most recent nightly firmware and the option for dual ISO just straight up isn't in the second menu tab. Any recommendations on what to do next? Everything else from ML seems to work/show up fine. Running magiclantern-Nightly.2014Aug07.5D31

It runs the CF or SD card as a bootdisk and loads itself IN ADDITION to your current firmware. This way, all of your settings that you changed in your Canon firmware can persist (including - and most importantly - AFMA). "uninstalling" ML is terrifically easy, you just "update" the firmware again and leave it on that screen for an extra 20 seconds (there is a timer and everything) and it will turn the bootloader off so that it no longer looks for ML on the SD/CF card. It is a pretty slick set up. That said, I never got the dual ISO option to show up

I was interested in seeing how much detail loss there would be in the shadows when pushed versus when using a normal exposure as well as the impact of interpolation in post on fine pattern bokeh. So I busted out the sharpest lens I have (ZE 135) and took a couple of photos. Left is the normal ISO, right is dual ISO. The focal plane isn't identical since i didn't feel like using a tripod but it gives you a great idea of how dual iso handles. I was particularly impressed by its lack of impact on the fine weave pattern of the screens on my windows. You do lose some sharpness in the intermediate zones but what you gain in the highlights and shadows in terms of usable sharpness is mind boggling.
The only thing that might keep me from constantly using ML is that it seems to take a extra second to wake the camera from sleep. That is a big problem for when I am actually shooting events professionally. Problem is quickly solved by just using a CF card without ML on it for those situations.

I think he mixed up the order in his description; DualISO is clearly on the right. In addition, I've found I get the best results with the 20-bit DNG output and -cs5x5 option.

Ah shoot, that's a gaff on my part forgetting to mention that. Yeah, it definitely increases the startup time. As I understand it this has something to do with the build still being in Alpha. They have some safety feature enabled that increases the loadup time that's not usually enabled in release versions. You can reduce the startup time, like you mention, by removing the ML enabled SD card but it's still slightly slower to startup. I usually disable the bootflag if I don't plan on using ML for a job, only takes about 30 seconds.

Definitely mixed up the order. Too used to reading radiology scans these days . How does one enable 20-bit dng and -cs5x5?
