I was interested in seeing how much detail loss there would be in the shadows when pushed versus when using a normal exposure as well as the impact of interpolation in post on fine pattern bokeh. So I busted out the sharpest lens I have (ZE 135) and took a couple of photos. Right is the normal ISO, left is dual ISO. The focal plane isn\'t identical since i didn\'t feel like using a tripod but it gives you a great idea of how dual iso handles. I was particularly impressed by its lack of impact on the fine weave pattern of the screens on my windows. You do lose some sharpness in the intermediate zones but what you gain in the highlights and shadows in terms of usable sharpness is mind boggling.
The only thing that might keep me from constantly using ML is that it seems to take a extra second to wake the camera from sleep. That is a big problem for when I am actually shooting events professionally. Problem is quickly solved by just using a CF card without ML on it for those situations.
