For me having no real landscapes around here to shoot (mountains, valleys, deserts, oceans, epic water falls etc.....) makes being a landscape shooter challenging. I hope to move somewhere else one day!!! Get away from the prairies and get me some mountains to play with! For now I will have to keep working at finding photo opportunities with what I have around here. Lately I've been too busy to get out much with my camera but I've been sneaking out for a quick sunset once and I while. Where I live there are a lot of wild flowers growing including these. Such a striking contrast to the rest of the flowers and strands of wheat. The sunset light added to the already purplish colours of the flower pedals.
Same with me here... not much "Grand Beauty" around. Pretty flat, dull, etc...
But, I think that really makes us stronger photographers. Being able to create compelling imagery from the mundane, less interesting, and many times "boring" areas takes a creative eye and lots of tenacity IMHO. I bet you find going to the majestic places almost too easy in some aspects. But, the cliche shot trap is always there as well. Scenes like this really make you dig deep, create order and interest in a very chaotic scene. Well done! Beautiful layering, comp, and colors.
Thank you all so much. I am humbled by how well received and how much attention this photo is getting.
Last night Fine Art Photography shared my FB photo on their FB page and it has gotten 1600 likes and almost 100 shares already. I"ve never had that happen to any of my photos of FB before. To be honest, I wasn't even sure I'd share this photo here. I have a couple others that I was planning to share and thought WTH, I post this one here. I'm glad so many like it. Thanks again!
I hear ya on location issue man - I live in NW OH and it is not on any landscape photographer's must see list! Great image - love the soft colors and it's a super comp.

Thank you Steve. I'd bet NW OH has more to offer then my area!
Very nice shot. The stillness with all these thin grass blades is difficult to achieve. Lighting and focus are also tough in a shot like this. You did well. Great image.
