These threads are great but making it so hard to choose between D500 or D810 as my next upgrade , the AF of the D500 sounds fantastic but if I'm being honest IMO the D810 images I've seen just look WOW !
Honestly, in most non-fast action conditions I doubt you'd be able to tell which camera took an image...both cameras seem to perform very similarly at the pixel level. Personally what I like most about the D810 is having 36MP to work with...not to say that 21 is bad, but I really noticed the difference going from 36MP to 20MP when I shot the 7DII. I also forgot how narrow the FOV was going back to DX. That being said, I expect it's just a matter of time before I pick up a D500 just for the AF for BIF n'such....though even that may not happen if Nikon were to release a successor to the D810 with the latest AF in the near future. I'm not betting on it, but there's always hope!
I sold my gear to take a year(+)break from photography. Being I don't need or want 2 bodies and that I'd be looking for an all-in-one body today, it would have to still be the D810.
Maybe that would change if I seen some competent examples of something other than birds from the D500 users lol..

Hmm, these do not convince me for choosing a D8x0 I'm afraid.
What did you do in post processing?
Ah I didn't realize you were looking to choose something. I just wanted to post some D800 shots in the forum that I took over the weekend. Wasn't sure if the D800 pics would be okay in the D810 image thread.
I used an RNI film preset for the color one and the black and white was a personal preset. Played with the tone curves and such.

There's a D800 image thread here... https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1271022
