Did a photoshoot with the D810 yesterday. Love the larger buffer and faster FPS and quiet shutter for family shoots.

I think a good number of people would disagree with you on that one .

If you "hated" the D800 ISO performance, which is second only to very few cameras like the Df/D3s/D4/D4s, you aren't going to be happy with the D810 ISO performance either, which is marginally better.

Personally, I would say it isn't better at all. If I had to be unhappy about one thing, it would be that I notice no difference at all in high iso performance over the d800.

Fantastic series of photos, Hardcore, but the last one is a gem!

I meant high iso. 6400 looks terrible at least to me on the 800.

...Question about colors. Does anybody notice a difference in the actual image output colors between D800 and D810? Like, skin tones, etc...? I have never liked skin tones from the D800 at all, and I was never able to produce skin tones like the above samples no matter what I did to edit the photos.

If you want best possible skin tons/color then you have to use a color checker and a gray card. No camera produces perfect color just by itself.

Probably the wrong side of the fence to say this but I've always thought Canon does a lot better job on skin tones than Nikon, out of camera.

Interesting about the AF though. Is it that lenses don't need correction now or is there a big difference in accuracy? The D800 already seemed like it did a pretty good job.

Skin tone is my number issue with D800 coming from Canon. it was a nightmare initially but my eyes are slowly adjusting to it. I carry my ExpoDisc anywhere I go with D800 but skin tone is still a struggle. Color checker will be my next investment.

On my 810, it was day and night. No correction on my 600mm or my 80-400. On top of that, the AF locks on much better. I would always get some AF chatter with my 80-400, now, rock solid just like my D4.

Too bad I had to send it back

My 810 had dozens of stuck and hot pixels, even at low ISOs. I tried the usual steps to map them out, but they didn't work. By comparison, my 800/e had NONE at the same ISOs. Hopefully my new copy will have AF that's just as good as the first (less the pixel problems)

Good to know about the AF, Steve. Particularly with the 80-400 which does chatter quite a bit on AF-C.

Might end up with this thing sooner than later here

Woow. Nice shots. Did you mean D810 or was it taken with D800.

Thank you. Sorry, edited the original. Yes they were all shot with the d810, not the d800.

Latest color camera from Nikon was D3x-it is best worlds color camera with Fuji S5 pro.latest Nikons cameras was yellow-green mixed colors....I have those both cameras with D800e and ordered D810-D800/e/810 not for colors-for sharpness, iso and video performance only.

The WB seems to be improved with the D810. I think you'll see the difference when you get it.
