Beautiful images hardcore! You have me wanting that 58 badly! What is your trick to getting those skin tones?
Thanks! No trick here. Just my usual processing. I radial filter every image. (bunch of little settings) Like Vinnie said, the 810 gets closer to my preferred white balance than the D800 did. D800 in daylight would shoot 4500 temperature whereas the D810 will shoot 5000. I still prefer a warmer image than that though and usually warm it up to 5500-6000 depending on how much direct sun.
Ya, the 58mm is a badass lens! When it was first released, I said I would never own it. Overpriced and unsharp according to the reviews. I don't feel the same way anymore

Went to another zoo to give the D810 another whirl. This time, I used my 300mm f2.8 VRII + 1.7x TCII instead of taking my 500mm f4 to see how the focus went with that combo. I must say that it works much better on the D810, more accurate and quicker.
Anyway, ehere are are few sample shots including some from the 70-200 f2.8 VRII.
Can you do some 100% cropping of the first two images and the male lion? Close cropping of both eyes pretty please. I want to see just how awesome this camera can be.
Hi,
Picture was taken in darkness, over one hour after sunset, and the only available light was the distant street lights.
Aperture f/1.4, 1/80sec, ISO-25600
One small thing I really like with the new D810 is that you can see the lcd screen now with polarized sunglasses. On the D810, you had to rotate the lcd to portrait to see the screen while you are wearing polarized sunglasses. A small thing, but really nice not to have to take off your sunglasses to review photos!
