Note the bull rider a couple of shots back. He is not only hanging by holding himself down on the rope he is using his legs. Same too if you look at saddle bronc riders, jumpers, polo players, in fact just about any form of horsemanship, so.... at the risk of offending. What the damnation is it with these barrel racers who need to hang on to the saddle horn??

Not really sure to be honest (don't know enough about the sport to comment), but I do know that shot is from the junior barrel racing, and it's not as common for the ladies barrel racers to hold on to the horn (but it does definitely still happen)...that being said, even the guys on the saddle bronc have been known to hold on to the horn while attempting to get picked up after the 8 seconds is up.
I have D810 for few weeks and found just about perfect in everything. Sunday was warm and sunny and we had so many butterflies and dragonflies so I decided to use D810 with Nikon 70-200 F/4 lens - what a great combo.
All 3 pictures cropped by about 80%.
