Found this snap on a roll of Acros that was still in my Leicaflex SL: have a seat by Georg, auf Flickr
could be a NSU? - Leicaflex SL, probably shot through a Summicron-R 90/2

The current 50mm Summicron-M (v5?) is a mandler design, yes? It isn't an ASPH design, I believe.
I don't have my 90mm Summicron-M Pre-ASPH nor the 35mm Summicron-R E55 ROM anymore, but I did pick up the current 50 Cron-M. Will be sharing some photos with the (new to me M) lens in the upcoming weeks.
Oh, is there a difference (rendering, IQ, etc.), if any, between the 50 Summicron-R V2 (non built in hood) and the current 50 Summicron-M?
Edit: Looks like the V5 50 Cron-M (no tab and built int hood) is a mandler design!

Yes the built-in hood version has exactly the same optical configuration as the tabbed version - so yes it's a Mandler design but no it's not an Asph design
I think the R Summicron without hood is version 1 - there were only 2 versions according to Erwin Puts

Shot on the M240 hand held and wide open at what is apparently the weakest area for this lens - near MFD work. Would have really appreciated IBIS to aid with steadying the image so I could focus at 10x magnification. But still managed and didn't have many notable focus misses. Impressed with this lens's handling of 'bokeh CA', or the lack of it. Definitely saw it in my 90AA-M images, as with the 50 Lux ASPH-M (which apparently Peter Karbe considers an APO, too) from the same outing. Pretty impressive IMO for a lens from the 70s (my copy is from 1981). Strongly prefer it over my Canon 70-200/4L IS, which I consider pretty decent itself.

It's indeed quite impressive for an old design, but I guess 90AA can also achieve the same level of CA suppression @ f/3.4.
