That would be my suggestion.
I usually pay for buy and sell when I need to sell something, but not always. But I browse a lot to buy. And I think sellers would be more successful if more eyes were on the ads. That would make buy and sell more appealing for more sellers to pay for use.
Just this last week, I bought an R6, EF to RF adapter and batteries from 3 different sellers. And I would have like being able to get notifications for 3 other lenses I was looking for should they happen to get posted.
It seems like an open notification system for both buyers and sellers would foster more engagement on the platform, especially for high-demand items that sell quickly. I’ve noticed that being able to follow specific lenses or camera bodies would save a lot of time compared to constantly browsing the listings. Maybe a tiered notification system could work—offering basic alerts for all users while premium subscribers get additional features like more detailed filters or priority alerts. This could incentivize more activity without diminishing the value of the paid option.

It pretty much is the reason I got a S&U membership. Why are there even mentions of it if it has been dead for what, years now?
