A couple of the last shots I took with mine. It got to heavy for my old bolds to carry around so I sold it and went lightweight with a D500 & 200-500mm. I sure miss the image quality, focusing speed and ability to take TC's.
Just a question for you 500mm users... with so many AF-S v1 lenses available for $2400 to $3000 (condition dependent) the lens has piqued my interest. How viable (sharp/AF speed) is the lens on a camera like the D500 or D810. Is it too much of a gamble to buy into an older lens like this since critical parts like AF motors are becoming increasingly scarce? I am not interested in spending $5000... so please don't suggest a 500mm f/4G VR, as I just don't have that type of coin.
