great images. w/out looking at the exif, what f-stop do you generally use with the lens? any shots w/ a tc?
thanks for sharing?
Thanx
my sweet spot is 7.1 though i do shoot wide open sometimes
only tc i have is the 1.4, not really happy with it on the D800, does better on my D3s but i don't use it often, the shots below are with it
I got my 500VR after selling my 300 2.8 and 600 f4, for me its the prime spot for speed/focal length/weight. I've been really happy with it. though I do still miss my 300 at times. here's a couple shots with the 500, I typically use it bare, but sometimes with a 1.4x on.
Fantastic lens. Wish I could handhold mine Most of time use a monopod .
I am not happy with how the 1.4 TC works with the 500 either , rarely use a TC.
Stopping down to f/5.6 gets you a little more depth-of-field. I don't have much experience with smaller f-stops; the odd shot taken at f/8 has come out looking okay.
Fantastic photographs, everyone. Been lusting for one for a while now myself.
I've heard that the 500mm performs better with the 1.7tc than it does with the 1.4. Can anyone here confirm or deny this?
