i am also very intrigued by the spec (except for the 6 blade-aperture). but i am also going to wait and see this time. i am very worried that it will be just like the 8 mm 2.8...

severe blue-purple color shift on left and right of images. no smearing. very sharp lens and i love it. i use it for video mostly. it is very very sharp to the extream corners on my 5n. very usable in most situations except for bright day light. that sucks. it is very sharp at 2.8. renders focus transition like my ze21.
i inquired samyang what the deal is with the new version, which they just announced along with the 12mm. i tried samyang usa and eu. i never got any response.
I have one of these coming in - may rent the Zeiss to compare - that will be interesting......
The Zeiss at $1,000 is just too much - lost a couple of E-bay actions that sold in the low $800's - still too much - $400 is much better - if it's anything like the 14/2.8 - that would be styling......
Even better examples here with the NEX : http://darkshape.blogspot.it/2014/04/58-samyang-12mm-f20-for-sony-nex-samples.html
Looking at the "landscape" picture in the forest, you see the corners being blurry at f/2. Corners improve and appear to be great starting at f/5.6.
The picture of the tree are not great, especially the bottom part of the image which is close to being terrible. I think that this is not a great example as the exposure changes and the tree seems to be very, so I wonder if the blur in the bottom is just DOF related. In comparison, two other pictures do not show the same blurring issue at the bottom (the two pictures are attached)
The first picture looks extremely reasonable to me and much closer to real life use than the other close up pictures, which I would never do with a 12mm lens anyway.
The size & weight works - the IQ from what we can see in the images look really good, especially for the cost - even has a distance scale and manual aperture - the Zeiss don't. The other E-mount Samyang/Roki's - 14/2.8 & 16/2 - are huge.
Not too many people interested in the Touit line-up - prices are still too high and very few used ones for sale - no distance scale and infinity stop really $ucks.
This resembles the Distagon 21 in shape (at least, that's what popped into my mind when I looked at the unboxing images). 12mm is VERY wide. I like what this company is doing.
Yes, they took a cool lens design and messed up with 6 bladed aperture. I know 7 is more expensive, but really on a lens that's very likely to have the sun in the frame?
Mine will probably arrive by tomorrow or Thursday. I'm a bit anxious given that 2 out of 4 "reviews" I've seen had issues : 1 with the yellow cast, 1 with soft corners.
