I would like to Know if anybody has had success using a wireless trigger like the cactus V5 or the something like the yongnuo rf 603 ii. I don't need HSS. I also don't want to modify the hot shoe or transceiver. I'm looking for something that works out of the box, without modifications of any sort.
Again, i don't need HSS, and manual triggers are fine, since i don't need TTL.
If the rf603 ii work, i'll probably buy the 560 iii flashes. If they don't work, i'll probably buy yongnuo 560 ii flashes instead.
Many have reported success with the PHOTTIX Odin TTL flash trigger with the A7 series.
You will need to get the Sony multi-interface shoe adapter ($24) but you will be able to do wireless manual and TTL off camera flash.
I've been using A7 with Cactus V4 triggers and couple of LumoPro LP160 manual flashes for product photography and portraits. Works great. Been using the same setup with Canon & Nikon cameras, Nex6 and now with A7.

phuviano, I have been using same stuff as with Canon 5DmkII and it seems to work fine (why would it not, if it's just question of triggering the flash). I have various older Cactus etc. stuff (can't figure out any other reason than empty batteries like in mine why those would not work).
But the most recent ones with non-empty batteries (Yongnuo RF-602TX & Yongnui RF-602RX) has worked well. Doesn 't sync 1/200s, but neither they did with Canon's.

Thanks Fred, but I'll think I'll pass on this. I want to make the setup easy as possible. I prefer not to buy the adapter for the flash.

if you fine use trigger in manual it mean no TTL and no need HSS i think you will be fine with wireless trigger Yuong Nuo Trigger PT04Si for sony. it work great on my A7 and very very cheap, just $20. but the speed just reach maximal 1/160, up 200 we will see black bar on photos
I've been working with a Sony 43M trying to get it to fire with a wireless trigger and the pins don't line up with FlashWave3 triggers we have. I have looked on Amazon and B&H at some of the suggested triggers in this thread and it looks like it would be very close for these to work as the firing pin on the trigger looks far forward just like the FWs.
Does anyone know if the pin on 60M is further forward? The solution I was going to try is to use adapters on the A7R and 43M with triggers designed for the Alpha SLT's and the Sony shoe. I figure the adapters will have to hit the pins well. If there are triggers that really line up well, please confirm that.
I use the RF602's for Nikon on my Sony a7. It works but the max sync is 1/160. Any faster shutter speeds and you'll get a black bar. I'm wondering if there's some kind of mod I can do to the RX unit (maybe remove one of the pins) so that I can get full 1/250 sync.

Have you tried without electronic front curtain shutter?
Yeah, and the results are the same. There has to be something that can be modified in the RX unit...
Some Pentax users did a mod so they could sync an RF602 at 1/180...
The poor man's trick with a stick and a rubber band gave me an idea, and I tried half pressing the button on the TX unit. Eureka! I can now get it to sync to 1/200 (with or without front e-curtain)
Now that I know this works, I may actually try the real mod...

Simple test, transmitter and receiver had no issues triggering the flash on the receiver, tested for HSS, no go, 1/200th max
2nd test was adding the 2nd flash to S1 mode which fired with no issues
3rd test 2nd flash to S2 mode, no go
4th test 2nd flash to RX mode, no go
EDIT: 4/15, SYNC SPEED 1/200TH HAS NO BLACK BAR, AT 1/250TH DOES
Rosscova - No, I wasnt expecting it, I know the PX system is the only HSS & TTL from RP would be possible for that, I wanted to be explicit, so for grins, I wanted to see what could be done.
I would guess pretty much most trigger/receivers will work in manual mode.
I use (on A7R) the Yongnuo YN622C (Canon). Just slip it on the hotshoe and
add flash (Metz 58 AF-1(Canon)) to the receiver. The metz has an auto mode
so I just set it to...say 5.6 and set camera to same and shoot away... The flash
adjusts power for different distances by itself. Used it on two weddings so far.
I use the Pixel Kings for Sony with one Sony adapter on the transmitter and one on the receiver. Flash is the HVL-F60M. Sync at every speed and TTL works.
Hi, also bought the Pixel King units for my A7R/F60M but as delivered they are completely incompatible due to the shoe mount differences. I assume I did not get the correct adapters. Could you tell me which ones you use? Thanks.
The one that comes with the Sony flash goes on the Pixel King receiver. It was meant to be used on the older Minolta mount. You then place the F60M on it. For the transmitter, get the Sony ADPMAA.Then mount the transmitter on it.
