p.2 #1 · Sony A7/A7R with Grip new L-bracket

as far as the "amateur quality" remark, jan has no concept whatsoever of my background or shop facilities; and i have yet to receive his part back.

to give you an idea of the processes involved for all of the camera parts we make:
camera measurements are done old school, using a surface plate and digital height gage, calipers and micrometers.
drawings are produced in Autocad and parts are blanked out from plate with our CNC waterjet cutter.
they are then screwed to a fixture plate and CNC machined (4 tool changes) in our Hurco or Milltronics vertical mills, or in the case of flanges, our Okuma CNC lathe. prototype parts are checked for fit and programs tweaked accordingly to produce a production set
hand deburring and scotchbrite deburring of all sharp edges and surfaces
then vibratory tumbled for 2 hours and finally anodized, black dyed and sealed

Um, "ok"---is all I can say from reading "JanPhoto's" comments here. You can't please everyone all the time, and that's okay. JanPhoto is entitled to his opinion and can shop elsewhere.

I know John Milich, having met him though a medium format digital workshop at my studio in Carmel. I had invited John to speak about some of his current designs in the field. In short, he really knows his stuff. He is ethical, conscientious, and does really top-notch work. Most here are not familiar and won't appreciate the precision demanded when working with technical cameras such as those from Alpa, Cambo, and Arca-Swiss. John Milich does. I use a Cambo WRS and confidently can rely on John Milich for advice and quality workmanship, which I would put on par with the great folks over at RRS. John Milich's products are top-notch and I know he takes great care (and pride) in designing and producing high quality CNC machined gear to make the photographic experience more enjoyable.

I am pleased to read this overwhelming reply by many, that Mr. John is a wonderful man and I have absolutely NO doubt about that a bit.

My passing comment was not aimed against Mr. John what so ever but rather I was rightfully complaining about product which carry name of his design firm. Unfortunately I have received dud-product with price tag of $160.00 USD. Simple as that.

Just few days ago I have received Arca-Swiss style L-Bracket from Asia for price about $60.00 USD. Hmmm what a difference. Slick, feather-light professionally made component from aircraft materials. It fits like a glove.

The L-Bracket from Mr. John has been pull back from mail and so I am going to make photographs as requested. For rest of you? You can be your own judge.

When Pictures posted I will ship this L-Bracket again back to Mr. John as I have promised.

Thank you.

Exactly.

May 11th he wrote
"As far as images of this L-Plate Mount Bracket. This would not be possible since this product is on it's way back to Mr. J. Milich."

How do you pull it back from mail ?

Mister John,

I put package on Post Office in Canada last thing Saturday afternoon. I took this bracket back from Post Office on first thing Monday morning after reading these previous posts. I was on a shot and just came back last week end.

For you to know. I am honest man and you will have this bracket back in mail right after I take a picture of it and post it on internet to satisfy the ocean of your worshippers.

Thank you.

Perhaps people are just using common sense. You mailed it on May 11th. You also said you went to the post office and pulled it out on May 13th. I guess that by itself sets off a red flag. Today is May 21st. Did you get your pic and mail the L plate back to him ? Honestly, this is none of my business but we've spent more time talking about this than looking at some pics so we can all relate to your experience.

I believe I've been to his shop in the Brooklyn Navy Yards a few years ago if I remember correctly. It is indeed American and he does great work. On top of that, he is a super nice stand up guy.

the only thing i can imagine is that i put the wrong item or a defective one in the shipment by mistake.

what really irritates me is that Jan seems to want to make a crusade out of it, has misled about mailing it back, and has been vitriolic, not just critical.

MOTTO : “… the only thing i can imagine is that i put the wrong item or a defective one in the shipment by mistake ...” ~ jmilich ~

… but just for sake of it, I have to bash / slash / question personal integrity of Jan because this unreasonable guy who paid $160.00 dollars to me for this “wrong item or a defective one” got a guts to complain. … Right ...

You can “want” a lot of things in your life which may bring closer your dreams my friend but if you like to see these photographs of L-Plate you have to wait since all goes in priorities ...

Hi Jan

Can I please say that you would be the type of customer most businesses would prefer not to have. imagine in a photography sense someone complaining your photo shoot was sub par to a large group of your customers and when asked to show why replied in the same manner as you have I am not sure you would feel you had been treated in a fair manner.

Having been on Ebay for 15 years I can honestly say you would be on my blocked list

I am a bit surprised nobody has posted their own picture of a bracket or even a positive review of the bracket ? At $160 it should be very high quality

I am in advertising photography for thirty years doing work for world top ad agencies.
As you can imagine, shaking the tree there will be enough photographers of my quality even better which will on way down break your neck.
To say that, in my business tolerance for mistake is none, nada, zip. Different strokes for different folks. I got unhappy since I was suppose to take this L-Plate on shot. Instead I substitute with different one.
I do not photograph sunsets nor ducks on local pond. We work very hard since demands are high and competition very stiff.
These commentaries are more less entreatment to me just to take pressure out. So pardon me, if you say you block me on your eBay maybe you may rather wonder if I will buy your product in first place.

Cheers
Jan

Seriously, how long does posting a pic take ? You put it a lot of time to pull the mail item from the post office and you have the time to type up a lot of responses here Please post the pic, unless you don't have it and are just doing this for entertainment.

... I hear you ... are you a photographer or picture taker ... sometimes street pic take a sec and you have a winner. In studio it's different. You rent studio or shoot for client. If you feel dull sometimes then you type these kind of nonsense like I do right now.
( Secret : That L-Plate I purchased from Mr. John truly sacks. But then this famous one is already pre-ordered as I have read in this forum. )

P.s. ... not for long. When I post those picks I will abandon this privilege of being member of F. Miranda society for good to make you all happy. Shall I ? No worries. I will. .
