Found an old SD card from my wife's point and shoot from a few summers ago. Liked this one of me and my oldest son:

I'm a grandfather. Beats being a parent, trust me. Luckily my two kids and two (one more on the way) grandsons live nearby. So I do get to see them from time to time and get shots as they grow.

Here's my 5 year old grandson with his 84 year old great-grandfather, my father-in-law, taken last Sunday, March 23, 2014. They are busy working a puzzle together. The spot below Levi's eye is a birthmark, which he got from his grandmother.

Dave, love that shot!! So much good going on.

Kabudoken, I like that first shot as well, captured the curiosity very well.

Planalpha, really like that third one. Just a thought, the curtain shot I'd say is more abstract than I'd associate with fpj. Not that it doesn't belong here, or that it isn't good (it is), but I do think it's a slightly different genre. I find myself shooting much like that as well, and I'm not sure how to classify it. It's less a specific memory (as one would associate with any PJ work), and more a feeling of childhood in general...

Hey Katie!! Always like your casual family work (which is 90% of what I see from you ) Love that basketball shot; the flinging arm, almost definitely missed shot , and seemingly uninterested third child leaning against the pole. And of course I love that you shoot film.

Chuck, love how "bad" that shot is, yet how good it is (as a photo you'd want to look at down the line). Makes one wonder how important "good" photography is.

Jodo, love that chub! I hope I'm still shooting when my grandkids come around (please G-d), though it scares me to think that far ahead. Like the running shot a lot, straight into the light.

Mike, great memory, I wish I could see the boat, but the memory is still there

Gel685, I think I'll post all of my kids-staring-at-idevices just for you and I remember loving that book. Love the look of concentration on the boys face, and the lighting is really nice.

Dmac, love love love that shot!! Love the closeness, the comfort of Levi, the hand on the chin...

I have a lot to post, just to figure out which ones... Keep on posting, I'm loving this thread!

Right there with you. I don't shoot clients anymore either. Sucked all the fun out of it. I am probably going to be downsizing my kit as well. Mirrorless is maturing at a rate that I feel comfortable using that type of gear as a primary kit. The lack of weight certainly helps as my back is an utter mess now.

Thanks! They are very comfortable together. I just wish Levi lived a little closer. I'm so glad he's got a chance to know his great-grandfather and great-grandmother.

To put things in perspective, I had two great-grandfathers who fought in the Civil War!
