p.4 #1 · Nikon Service Advisory: D600 shutter replacement
I need to wake up and read more forums. I thought those dust spots were from me somehow not taking care of the camera and my lens....Ahhhh. Just need to send it back in and see what happens. Thanks for the link!

My service notice says same thing as Rudy mentioned...
"The customer-service measure mentioned in this Advisory has already been performed on your D600 camera, serial number 303XXXX, which included the inspection, cleaning and replacement of the shutter assembly and related parts of your camera, during your camera’s recent service."
So apparently those of us who had it done recently are good to go.

I got my $$$ after 3 failed attempts last year to fix this issue. Best of luck to those are sending their in to have it fixed, otherwise try getting your $$$ back.

I agree this is a good thing, but the damage has been done. Even with a new shutter, the D600 is damaged goods; reputation is poor in the market place and value is tied to reputation, even if the problem has been fixed. My guess is the lawsuits will continue. Nikon blew it and the only way to make people whole is to replace D600s with D610s.

I don't have the "oil" problem with mine other than some dust particles that I can just blow them out once in a while. I would like to know if there is an expiration date for this. I don't see it specified in the announcement so I'll hold on to mine for now.
From what I've gathered, this does not mean that they will replace your shutter. They will inspect, clean, and send it back, if it does not meet their standard to replace the shutter. I don't want to live without my D600 for a few weeks just for that
Reads to me that shutter replacement and sensor cleaning will be done:
Nikon has resolved this by making available to you (even if Nikon’s product warranty has expired) this customer-service measure, which includes the inspection, cleaning and replacement of the shutter assembly and related parts of your camera, FREE OF CHARGE

Hmmm... I just bought a used, low usage one that I was told had the service done already. I don't see any spots but I haven't shot too much with it yet.
I wonder if it'd be worth sending in anyways?
You enter the serial number on the linked Nikon web site. My guess is if the shutter was previously replaced, they won't do it again. I bought mine new in December of 2012, supposedly well after the problem became known and corrected. I never sent mine in, but I just entered the serial number and it allowed me to print out the shipping label. I sent it in since they are covering shipping on both ends.

Just sent mine in. I wonder if they will reset the shutter count after replacing it with a brand new shutter.

You need to be on the internet more like the rest of us rather than shooting outside

I sent my D600 in for the advisory and I see that Nikon received my camera today. Next we will see how long the update takes. Keeping fingers crossed that there is no impact damage

I will get my D600 back from Nikon this Friday after ONE week since the day I mailed it! Of course, it's $0.00 charge ;-)
Is B2 service supposed to be as shutter replacement? thanks

I mentioned the following in the other thread as well - I sent mines in Jan with 2640 shutter actuations. I got it back with the shutter replaced, but with 4442 shutter actuations.

Thanks. UPS tracking shows that my camera has been delivered to Nikon facility, but I have not received any email from them yet. So, I still don't have the order number.
