#1 is extremely awesome. If I were you, I would print that very large and display proudly in a beautiful frame on your wall. Congrats!!! All your pix are great!
Thank you to everyone who stopped in and left a comment. They are all much appreciated and I would usually try to respond to each one but there are so many that I hope you will accept this general reply and thanks to you all as a group.
I have already printed the other version of the first shot that is on the front page of WildPlanetPhoto's website. I printed that one on metal at 16x24. It is a heavy crop so much larger, unless on canvass would start to show its deficiencies. Probably should have had the 1.4TC on but then would have been up at 6400ISO. However, the 1DX should have handled that.
I will have a look at running a bit more NR on the background as I just had a look at the posting on my 27" iMac and it does show the noise more than what shows on my Retina MacBookPro. For some reason the scaling algorithms or maybe just the HiDPi seems to suppress visible noise when viewing on the Retina screen. I've been noticing this a lot as I started to use my iMac a bit more.

isn't it nice to use a 27 inch screen?? I did myself a christmas present and bought a 27 inch nec screen!! I love it and should have done it sooner!!
Thanks Rick. I've had my 27" iMac since 2009 but once I got my 15" Retina MacBook Pro in 2012, I stopped using it. I enjoy the large screen but I like sitting on my couch and editing and I prefer the higher DPI screen on the rMBP. That said once Apple or someone releases a workable hiDPI 27" screen, I will migrate back to that workflow.
