1 is the shot Geoff. If I had taken this image I would do selective NR on the bg.

Thanks Ted, I'm going to try the selective NR out but I suck and have no experience with masks in PS so I actually tried to mask it in LR and it didn't give me the results I was hoping for.
I have PS6 so will try and figure that workflow out.
1 is a screaming good shot Geoff, but I think I said that about the one 1/12 of a second different To be honest, if you stopped this one down a bit it would have had more impact with the crisper details that would have rendered. Still it's a super shot and congrats on magazine picking it up I really like the determination on the look of the bird in 2, what an intense glare! It's a great image at 3200, I would still do a nr pass on the bg. I do like the turn and the light in 4, once again I would suggest stopping down to make better use of that lens. I do like the feel of the last shot, the placement of the lighting worked in your favor there, its a really nice shot.
Almost missed this post; I was away. #1 is an incredible shot compared to the myriad of BE shots as of late. How do you get trumpeters up there. Thought you'd be seeing tundras!!! Don

Thanks Tim for the detailed comments and critique. I've been taking your stopping down nonsense to heart lately as you have seen in my latest duck posting from Sunday.
