I had the opportunity to photograph Gary's (Gary Schmeidler on FM) beautiful niece yesterday in a very cold and snowy location. Just sharing a couple of early faves. I had so much fun doing these and Hannah was a real trooper in the cold weather!
Lovely! So nice to have such wonderful, backgrounds and models to work with! If there was a wicker basket in the first shot it would be like you pulled it out of a fairy tale! :-)
Love the first photo. Absolutely perfect. THe second one I think the hair is a bit hot (pun intended). But in all seriousness I would try and reduce the highlights on the hair. But they are both great.
Love the setting and feel of character and charm in #1. I think the photo could be leveled a bit using bottom of dress as a guide, has a slight tilted feel for me. Also have thoughts of a tighter crop on the right to get rid of the heavier darks and may also do the same on the left and remove the darker tree?
On a very positive note (Gary she is beautiful) the dress and coloring is magical and I love it!
#2 to me the face seems a bit too light and pale. Lovely otherwise for me
I agree with Stu. The first shot looks like it could be from a fairy tale. Love the second shot as well. Did the sun come out, or was that some OCF backlighting going on there?
Thanks everyone. The sun was out the whole time - the first photo was just taken just as it was going down. There is some photoshop magic going on to give the appearance of a snowy day.
Love both! I won't claim to be a composition expert, but it seems to me that the snow line in the background of No. 1 is level and Hanna may be standing where there is a slight incline The dark edges of the trees help frame No. 2. YMMV.

In photo 4 are you using any white reflectors or speedlights? If you used reflectors, can you give us the approximate locations (e.g., photog is at 6 o'clock, model is at 12 o'clock, reflector 1 is at 8 o'clock at approximately 10 feet from model, etc., ....)
Thanks for posting! Really appropriate for this time of year. Nice photoshop work.
