Been lurking on this forum for quite a while. There are a lot of really great photographers here and I've been reluctant to share some of my people photos. I guess it's time to step up....
My girlfriend found this great coat and I enlisted my granddaughter to model for me. It has been very cold here in Minnesota so we had about 10 minutes before we were all frozen. She was a great sport so she got to keep the coat and the wolf.
I welcome any C&C. I have been working on my PP. specifically trying to be consistent within a given set.
All photos taken with my Canon 1Dx using the Sigma 85mm F1.4. (Most shot at 1.8) Natural light.
Welcome to FM People, and I'm glad to see you've decided to start posting shots.
I'm not usually a "stickler" for these things, but that branch going through her head in 2, 3 and 4 is a bit distracting. The tree in the bg in No. 1, for example, is really out of focus, so it doesn't bother me coming out of her head.
Nos. 1 and 4 are your keepers in my opinion. My recommendation, even tho she's in the snow, is to warm it up a bit, and lighten up the exposure.
These are really nice shots, and I look forward to seeing more from you.
Welcome to the People board, or at least the posting side of it. Glad you could join in with this very good first set. Well done.
Good points by Ron. I only had a problem with the branch in the last two shots.
I sense a slight "look down" angle to the shots.
My pick for 'best' is #4. I think the expression made me choose it.
Thanks to everyone for the great feedback. I made some of the suggested edits and re-posted 2,3 & 4 with the branches removed, the exposure bumped by 1/3 - stop and the temp warmed just a bit.
bryamlindsey; I normally would clone out a blemish but this is a birth-mark and I quit removing it a couple of years ago. I guess I feel that by removing it I am sending a message that she would be prettier without it. And in my mind it just isn't so. If I were to submit this for a client, I would usually ask how much retouching they want, in advance.
Jim: I tried to get low when I took these but I think she was also downhill a little, and I didn't account for that. I think that by making me think of it, I am more likely to notice next time.
Douglas: I was going for the Little Red Riding Hood vibe here. Since you noticed, I must have succeeded.
Thanks again to all. I cannot express enough how much this forum has helped my photography. 3 months ago I could not have produced these images. There will always be room for improvement and it's nice to have a place where solid advice is available.

Getting you to think of it was part of the idea. Getting everyone else to think of it was the other part.
