Do share your thoughts on the Loxia 50 as you use it Greg - I'm considering consolidating on the FE 55 + Loxia 50 combo (would mean selling a ZM 50/1.5 Sonnar and Cron-R 50/2).
I really like my Loxia 35/2 a lot (I also got the FE 35/1.4 Distagon, sure it is good but it isn't getting loved like the Loxia at f/2.8 through f/4+ range - I feel there is something very special with that lens in that range), and seems the Loxia 50 gets better reviews, so I'm really interested.
When the Loxia 50 came out, it didn't get much enthusiasm from the community here. I loved mine, for its lovely colours and rendering style. Also the haptics are really good (size, weight, focus ring, aperture ring, auto skip to magnify).
It seems it is gatehring momentum, as learned shooters get one: Charles K., Samuli Vahonen, now Greg. I feel guilty about letting mine go, but the Otus 55 is just too large and heavy that I can multiply lenses in my daily bag.
But the Loxia 50 shouldn't be considered to tbe the same as the 35, only shorter; Totally different character, maybe due to the fact that the 35 is a Biogon, and the 50 a Planar.

Phillip - any crops from the FD 80-200L? I've got the far cheaper and 'decent but not amazing' 70-210 f/4. How good is the 80-200L?
I is quite spectacular in the central area from f/4 (except at the close focusing distance). Whats most remarkable it the great CA control. The corners at least 200mm are not that good. I will try to add some crops later, I am on my tablet right now.
I really like that you are more into landscapes and warmer light recently. Combined with your skill at composing this makes for some very enjoyable images ;-)
Thanks. Corners at f/4 aren't an issue, since that would be mostly portrait type work or other subject isolation. Do the corners improve stopped down? My 70-210/4 is actually fairly good. It's not amazing, and won't wow anyone, but it certainly produces usable images with good resolution. I know the Ls have better contrast and much better CA control, which may still lead me down that road, but if it's not a stark difference I can definitely make do with the 70-210 for quite a while.
Here is a quick test shot of my 70-210 at 210mm, f/8:
100% center crop:
100% lower left corner crop:

I have to agree with Phillip, Michiel...loving your landscapes recently. The rolling hills are superb, especially mixed with the spring colors!
Darrell...as I get more into the Loxia...I'll keep you posted. I think it was Samuli and Charles that made me buy mine. Not too much different than the Planar I sold, just updated. And I really like the bokeh so far. It's very nice!
I remember when Philber had gotten his( the 1st anywhere!) and his first few pics..and like he said, it took awhile for the community to warm up to it a bit...
I've discovered that my 50 Lux doesn't like daylight(bright daylight) shooting...it prefers lowlight much more, where its superb character can really shine. Hence the Loxia purchase, and subsequent sell off of most of my other lenses. I think I going to try going minimalist for awhile. Concentrate on 3-4 lenses total...
We'll see if I can keep the GAS at bay...
Here are some more Loxia 50 pics..
