Joshua, as usual... fantastic set. I'd like to know your opinion about FE 24-70. Thanks.

Thank you very much, Manuel.
This lens has a bad internet reputation. IMHO, it is actually a great performer, for sure this lens performs better than what has been said about it. I know more than a handful of folks that hesitated to buy this lens, myself included. I bought it locally from a guy that told me he didn't like its performance. I tried it out right there and then and I couldn't find anything wrong with it. He gave me such a good deal, I couldn't turn it down. So, I bought it on the spot.
The other folks I know personally that ended up buying this lens feel the same way. From what I could gather from online reviews, this lens is a great between 30mm and 65mm and only a so so performer at 24-28 and at the 70mm FL. After owning this lens, I didn't hesitate to use it at whatever FL I felt needed for my composition and framing. To sum up in just a few words, I love this lens!
As you can see, I do quite a bit of oversea travel and I prefer zoom lenses for that purpose. I also take one or two prime lenses (the 55mm "mini Otus", for sure) for specific needs but mostly I rely on my zooms. At my age, I simply cannot afford to take too many prime lenses for logistics reasons although I love them. Oh, well .

Here are a few more images from the picturesque lake in Bali on that foggy morning. There is human interest in the images time around of locals that brought offering to the "gods of the lake". The fog disappeared pretty quick after the sun was up and towards the end of the procession on boat but the morning was still great and clear.
Thank you, Bob. Your images are simply gorgeous. I love the rendition of the Loxia 35mm you posted here. Well, actually all your images are great. It just shows that gear doesn't matter, it is more the person behind the camera that counts more than anything else .
In case you're interested, when I was out the other night, I was doing some lens comparisons. Here's an image of the FE16-35 at 16mm @ f/8 vs the Zeiss Distagon 15/2.8 @ f/8. I think the zoom does quite a good job here.
I am amazed at the great shots that are flowing!!
Joshua amazing set from Bali!
Bob, great work and love all the comparisons!
Jack, wonderful shot with the ZM 35 biogon.
I just received my Loxia 35 this morning, and IMO it feels very much like the ZM 35/2 I had previously with the M9. The ergonomics are great and the MFD is excellent. The shots at near to medium at f/2 are excellent, so I would feel for street portrait work the lens will work great. Still a lot more testing needed
Portrait shot this morning at the office. f/2.0 with A7II. The colours are wonderful with no PP'ing really needed. Definitely no sharpening is needed either. The fall off in focus is excellent in the hair, so I think for portraits at close to medium will be excellent.
Hi Charles, thank you very much. The images you posted here are great , Charles. I know that you will put the Loxia to good use the way Bob does. Enjoy it!

I finally get to post on this thread. Here are a couple of the ice in the bay near our place with the A7 II and the ZE 21 f/2.8 and some shots of trumpeter swans in our neighbourhood with the A7 II and the ZE 100 MP.

Thanks again Joshua... after some weeks with Minolta MD 35-70 Macro my "primes choice" is less... solid. As you said, in some occasions have a zoom lens could be a better choice. Greetings.
