Bill, I envy you, in a good way, of course! What a beautiful family indeed. My family is only half that of yours; I only have one son and 2 grandkids. What a wonderful time to get together with our loved ones!

No tripod, no cry.
On the most anticipated day of the tour, I left my tripod at the hotel because, based on the weather forecast, it didn’t seem likely that I would have a good opportunity for photography. I was wrong, the weather turned out to be perfect as the day progressed. However, setting up a tripod would have been impossible. You’ll be lucky just to stay on your both feet, so forget about tripods. I realize this sounds discouraging, but keep in mind that a population of over one billion people is visiting one of the most popular destinations in their beautiful country, along with thousands of tourists, so crowds are to be expected.

Beautiful images of Jiuzaigou, Jako! Were you there during one of their big national holidays? I have seen pictures of "people mountain people sea" at those tourist attractions during their big holiday, I wouldn't go if it were free.
@DouglasLiu - Thank you Douglas! We visited Sichuan in mid-to-late November this year. From what my wife translated, it seems there was a short family holiday during our visit. Apparently, Jiuzhaigou is always crowded, and park authorities limit daily visitors to 41,000 during the peak season.

A calm evening along the Colorado River as a passing cloud lit up with incredible color at sunset, painting the water and red cliffs with soft, glowing light.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
