We stayed at Zhangjiajie 3 nights; it rained hard on the first day; less rain on the second day and on the last day, it was simply too foggy up in the higher elevation. I didn't get to see the Avatar Mountains in their full glory, in other words. Oh, well, the weather is beyond everybody's control...

Sounds like difficult conditions, but you did make a beautiful image, Joshua!

Thank you Ross, amazing lighting and colors.
Thank you Piotr for your encouraging feedback that I appreciate very much.
Although - as many of us - repeat certain motifs, your images always appear very fresh to me ad I always enjoy looking at therm and being reminded of you. Take care, K-H.
Thank you for your kind words Karl-Heinz.I like to come back to my well known places too,but always try to show them in somehow diffrent way. What excites me really is finding new locations full of old, picturesque remnants, preferably in the range not more of 1 hour driving from home.
Really liking your shots with that Viltrox Eric, very nice! Are you pretty happy with that lens overall? Any criticisms that you have with it? I was thinking picking one up so thanks for your insights.

Excellent, Dave! We are waiting for their return here in Texas. It has been so dry, however, they may not be in the usual places upon returning.
Thanks.
The weather up here (Minnesota/Wisconsin) has been fairly warm.
I think it's suppose to get cooler and have frost warnings in a week.
Shortly after that, the Sandhills leave.
Where I was, Crex Meadows in Wisconsin, normally has 10k to 15k Sandhills just before they go.
Right now, my guess is 3k to 4k.
So this needs to build quite a bit.
They should be showing up in your neck of the woods in early November, but maybe a bit later than last year.
While I was there, with dark skies, I tried for the Lemmon Comet.
It was so small in the sky, I started to take random photos of the sky where the app said it should be.
I got lucky and hit it, but it was not worth the time.
This is a major crop with the a1 and 400-800 lens @ 800mm.

I haven’t used it very much yet, so my opinion is limited. But I have to say that I quite like it. Other than build quality I think it’s better than the Sony 50/2.5, which is the lens I plan on replacing with the Viltrox. I need to take more people pictures with it. But you really can’t lose for $199. The image quality is very good.

Hi Ross, thank you very much! The weather conditions were horrible, making me feel like going back to this place next year. Your fall color images are exquisite and enjoyable.
