The Belgard Chapel, or, as it is also called, the Gnezdilovskaya Chapel. The Vazuza River.
In the 19th century, these lands belonged to the noble family of Belgard. The founder of the family name was a French nobleman who emigrated to Russia at the end of the 18th century. His grandson Alexey Valerianovich Belgard was a goat breeder known throughout Russia. In his estate in Alekseevskoye (not far from the surviving chapel), he organized a goat farm.
Alexey and his wife Sophia had two children - Valerian and Alexey. Valerian was born in 1895, but at the age of 6 he died of unknown causes. And here for the first time a local legend appears about the Gnezdilovskaya Chapel and the boy who drowned in the pool. It is quite possible that Valerian did not just die, but drowned in the Vazuza and the chapel was erected on this site.
