Thank you Charles! Really enjoying your images form Spain.
Portugal & Spain was on our European 'to-visit' list so if all goes well my wife and I should walk you path next fall.
Oh, I have my eyes on a lens that you own so I will PM you again with questions.
Very nice 135mm ZA pics Werner...the columns shot is awesome!
Charles and Jack...fantastic 50 Lux images!
Took the Mitakon 50 .095 to work today for the first time. I really like this lens.
Gregg
@.095...This is one of my customers house. He used to own an Indy Racing team!!
Jack, excellent shots. I really didn't think the 50 Lux Asph would render as well
Greg, great shots!
There are so many excellent images in this thread, and I apologize to those I have missed.
Evening model shoot this evening with my wife, Marisa. In very low lighting with ICE lighting.
A7s and 50 Nocti f/1.0 @ f/1.0 6400 ISO 1/100s.
Very nice portraits of your wife Charles!
Michiel..love your landscapes with 100mm! How would you rate the FD 100/2 in comparison to the Contax Planar 100? Preference between the two? I know the FD is much smaller in size right?

Gregg,
Consider the Leica R 100mm f2.8 Apo-Macro-Elmarit; I use it to kill 2 birds with one stone. All images with tripod mounted Leica R 100mm f2.8 Apo-Macro-Elmarit and A7r camera.

Thanks Rich...I would love one, but I do already own the Contax Planar. And I do have some ext tubes that I use with it. I like the C/Y version better than the ZE/ZF. But that's just my opinion!

Gregg,
Then I would probably recommend the Contax 100mm Planar over the Canon. I only recommended the Leica R Apo-Macro-Elmarit because you already are using so many R lenses and have the adapter already and it such a fine performing lens. I have the one Contax (C/Y) 21mm f2.8 Zeiss Distagon that I am using. In my case I opted for this over the ZE/ZF lenses because it was smaller and lighter than the newer lenses and focused and had the aperture ring adjustments in the same direction as my R lenses. Plus the older Contax 21mm Distagon may well perform somewhat better than the newer lenses for some apertures, distances, and applications.
Rich, nice atmosphere in that set. You mentioned the C/Y 21mm. Are you completely happy with it? I saw a couple of tests with wide angles and the Contax looked by far the best. It's more expensive than what I had hoped and also larger, but if it really is very close to the modern version I may get one anyway eventually. Especially since I like the C/Y lens (28mm/2.8) I already have.

Thank you. I have only used the lens a couple of times at this point and stopped down normally to f8 or f11 for the DOF that I needed even with the 21mm focal length. I have been quite pleased with the results at this point however because I first go to my Leica R 28mm f2.8 V2 Elmarit for most applications. Everything that I have read indicates that it is close in performance to the newer lenses but may not quite equal them in some areas and surpasses them in others. Yes it is fairly large with that dang 82mm filter thread size and I have made adjustments and spent money for my filters to fit the lens. You do pay a premium for these lenses in mint or close condition, but as I have indicated since I have been using mainly Leica R and now a Minolta CLE-M-Rokker lens, I find it a real advantage for all of the lenses to operate in the same direction for both focus and aperture adjustment.

Rich, thank you very much for sharing your thoughts! Perhaps it'd be wiser to go for something cheaper and smaller, such as the Zuiko 21/3.5. It's just that in the test I saw the C/Y did much, much better. Best to think it over carefully, especially since I'm still somewhat unsure about A7.
One of the rare times I have taken a picture in bright daylight with a wide open aperture. I don’t particularly like the soft look of wide open apertures. I think this is at F2.8. The lens flare was not intentional, but because it is on a near perfect diagonal, I think the composition works.
The Canon 24mm is a good lens for use in a city environment, but I find the out of focus areas horrible, and the lens has a tendency to smear the color blue—but it could just be my copy.
many many awesome and instructive shots in the thread.
Derek: killing it as usual. That 35/1.4 no slouch
Charles: been going through you wonderful shots from spain. You are making the lux look very good, but I see you shooting often with the DR-- also excellent results, and I can't help but wonder what goes through your mind choosing the 50?
