I made a quick stop in Phoenix Ancient Town Fenghuanggucheng (Phoenix Ancient Town) in northwest Hunan Province, China last week. I was there last year but decided to spend a night there again this time on my way to the national park. I am not a street photographer so please be kind. The young girls in colorful costumes are actually Han Chinese (the vast majority of Chinese citizens) dressed in the ethnic Miao people costumes for photography, fake news so to speak
Wonderful and quite dramatic images, Doug! Batis 135mm lens, huh? I remembered you took it to Italy and you sold it after you came back. So, you must have re-bought that lens then, right?
Some close-up actions here - yes, the lens is a great performer optically but what I find amazing is the IBIS. I took several of this guy handheld at this shutter speed and from a little awkward position, I may add. All of them are tack sharp without any hint of camera movement.

Thank you very much, Joshua! Can't believe how well camouflaged that gecko was. Very striking capture!
I bought and sold the Batis 135 many times. I bought one again for my trip to Portugal last year, sold it after the trip. Then bought one back after Fred bumped his old Batis 135 thread. I was going to pack the Sony 70-200 F4 G II for this trip but favored the even smaller size of the Batis 135 for tele. I think it's a very special lens. I gave the Batis to a friend in China before I left, and just bought one back again on FM. I must have owned this lens 4 or 5 times.
More from the ancient town.

Gorgeous set of pictures from China Douglas!
Thank you Peire!
A few from Zhangjiajie National Park in northwest Hunan Province, China, where the movie "Avatar" was filmed. I was there about a year ago too. This time I only spent two nights outside of park at a hostel owned by someone who works for the park. There is no lodging inside the park and the park is not open until 7:00 or 7:30, well past the sunrise time. I had to pay the hostel owner to "smuggle" me into the park before sunrise on both days, but both mornings turned out to be very foggy, no sunrise to speak of. It rained quite a bit too but the mist after the rain was just amazing. I would like to photograph this park again in winter when it snows. From all the pictures I have seen, winter is the best.

First walk with Voigtlander Nokton 75/1.5 in Sony FE mount.Another very good/excellent Voigtlander lens with character.I like it's performance wide open as well as stopped down and it's 0,55m mfd, handy for (sometimes dreamy) closeups. So good it can be used at last without a dumb adapter.
