This Costas hummingbird hung around in my neighbors tree long enough this morning for me to throw on my 100-400 lens and grab a couple of shots of him.
Nice photos everyone. Is there a cheap and good adapter for Canon lenses? I am interested in the A7 but really dont want to pay $300-400 for Metabones. I am not interested in AF as I will be using ZE lenses mainly.

Dimitris have you looked at the Kaavie / Viltrox adapter?
Learning how to use the new to me Summilux and it's characteristics.
First, on my way home, Zurich main station. The new, lower part has just opened, four extra tracks way below the ground, to add more capacity. Got to explore that part of the station once with my camera. For now, these will do:
Zürich, Tief-Bahnhof Löwenstrasse
Sony A7 - Leitz Wetzlar Summilux-R 1:1.4/80mm
80mm, 1/250, f/2, ISO 100
The lens is said to be sharp from f/2.8 on, and indeed, that f/1.4 shots and f/2 shots are a bit softer. Ok, even if soft - what a nice blur in the background! Let's bring that a little bit more in focus:
Zürich, Tief-Bahnhof Löwenstrasse, take II
so you see where the tracks lead to - out into the light, of course
Sony A7 - Leitz Wetzlar Summilux-R 1:1.4/80mm
80mm, 1/250, f/8, ISO 640
The one across, to the next plattform. 15m? 20m? And taken at f/2.8 which should be pretty sharp already. Let's see this one:
The schedule on the plattform across
Sony A7 - Leitz Wetzlar Summilux-R 1:1.4/80mm
80mm, 1/125, f/2.8, ISO 200
I was surprised - focusing on the departures list, using focus magnification, I could READ some of the text! Impressive! This is (sorry for the technical ... stuff in here) a crop at 100% of the not sharpened yet image, f/2.8, ISO 200, 1/125 hand held:
100% crop of the above

New Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM Lens using Ommlite auto adapter on A7r
I feel like I am in a never ending search for wide angle solutions. If you like super-wides, you understand. Someday I may break down and purchase a Leica WATE but not today. This lens just arrived today from B&H and these are the first shots. The lens is large but not as heavy as I anticipated. Huge smooth focusing ring and image stabilization. I don't expect to ever use auto focus. Very versatile range.

I would appreciate some full resolution images at round 20mm
And a picture of the lens adapter to the a7
i would like to show u this and maybe get a little info. I believe this was a Canon 35mm 1.2 on my a7. IS that natural bokeh, since the caladium leaves appear sharp I do not believe it is camera shake. It was taken thru a window. thanks if u feel like commenting joanlvh
Fast aspherical lenses can sometimes have very busy bokeh. I think that's what you're seeing here. Some folks will refer to it as onion skin bokeh.
Samuli Vahonen posted earlier in this thread about the Contax G45mm f2 and a similar issue. The Contax G 45mm f2 was one of the sharpest 35mm lens ever tested back in the 80's, but the bokeh in certain instances isn't pleasing.
You may be able to avoid these distractions by stopping down a little or by avoiding specular highlights or bokeh at certain distances.
Philip, I'm interested to know how useable you found the Canon FD 300 L on your A7 - I currently use one on my OM-D, where the IBIS makes it useable down to quite slow shutter speeds. I am contemplating buying either an A7 or A7R, and would want to use it on that camera, but I've heard conflicting reports about shutter shock. However, these results look superb. Any advice would be useful.

Damnit Phillip you're going to force me to move to Germany or something. So much green!
Well the price for that is a lot of rain and I sometimes would wish for a little less green

The shutter shock is an A7r specfific issue, no problems with the a7.
I usually use it with a monopod but then handling I fine and if I am careful I can go down to 1/200 and get pixel sharp images.
I also wrote a review of the 4/300 L, check it out: http://phillipreeve.net/blog/canon-fd-300mm-4-l-review/
