These two were taken on the Kunzum La, Spiti's gateway pass. It's improving a little but it gets wiped out by 4-5 metres of snow each season and needs to be remade each May-June by some very brave men in earthmovers. People pray once they make the top, which takes 15-20 minutes and you don't want to meet traffic. I love this lens but here it is out of its depth, it being largely a portrait lens with a soft palette. Very hard to do post on these.
Close to Tibet, at 4500m Lake Tso Moriri feels like it belongs there. After 3500m Leh, even experienced people cannot take it lightly. Wiki says brackish water but not much taste to it, and plenty of bird life. With connections, you can now drive out to the border region, really high - around 5900m is high for flat ground.

Went cross-country skiing on Monday this week. The weather wasn't too bad when we started, but suddenly it turned into a full snowstorm. I'm often out shooting in "bad weather" , but this was the worst I have ever experienced. Hard to stand straight and visibility was very low. The ski tracks were gone in just a few minutes. Fortunately there are some markers along the track (meant as a guide for the people making the tracks) that we could follow back to the car. Couldn't take any photos when it was at its worst, especially since I had only brought a tricky Lensbaby, but these may still give you an idea of what it was like. Spring seems far away!
