First one is a real WOW image
Really impressed by the results that you, Ronny and others have been able to achieve from the 200-600mm... once again, seems Sony has made a great lens.
Processing old images...
Looking for a different point of view in a very common subject in LA
A7r + Zony 16-35
I went back to a spot in East Boston with a view of the city skyline and took the following with the 100-400 GM. Rough chronological order as the sun set:
The FE 50mm f/1.8 is ok. Optically it's actually fairly decent. Good (but not great) sharpness wide open, a quite nice rendering IMO. Sharpens up quite nicely stopped down. It's biggest issue is the autofocus. While massively improved by a recent firmware update to be fairly good in most conditions, it still struggles in dim or backlit lighting situations. I do much prefer the Samyang 45mm f/1.8.
Thank you for your opinion. Is the Samyang AF?.
I had a 14mm F2.8 and was poorly soft with MF.
Did sell it when I left the Sony A7R 1 world only to return for some recent work so looking for some other everyday lenes

Yes, full AF and quite quick at that. Far better autofocus than the FE 50. Sharper too, though bokeh is a little harsher.

I usually get 15-20 seconds to take these shots (rain, traffic), so small lenses are a great help - this one weighs 170g. Road is top left in #1. They show the Voigtlander blue/green/yellow/ grading pretty well.
