Parts of Samye Monastery have been destroyed many times in its 1,220 year history - by fire, depredations by enemies and most recently by last century's Cultural Revolution. The Tibetans just build it back up because it is central to the faith. This is a small side chapel, with its very solid portico and two stage black-red frieze with its central window in the middle.
Two more falcon images that are cross-posted elsewhere...
Both images show the same male falcon. Based on the tag at his right foot, I figured out that he was hatched in Oregon in 2013. So, he is 7 years old. But how he is actually here Southern California remains a mystery. Maybe he migrated by himself or maybe he was relocated by the US Wildlife Agency. He has mated with a female falcon here, making sure that his legacy continues...

Thanks so much! These were taken in Hocking Hills state park, which is only an hour away from me. I go there probably most often, but there are several other good locations elsewhere in Ohio.
Cheers Jordan, always good to learn from the locals. Across the pond here most people know about the big national parks and such but not so much the state parks. Thanks for sharing

This is Hempstead Harbor under unusual weather conditions. There had been a fog bank over the water all day. The water had become very calm and glassy. The clouds overhead were quite low and were lit from above, even as the sun was beginning to set.
An entrance ramp to the Queens Midtown Tunnel in NYC this morning. This would normally be so packed with cars you could walk across them for several blocks (and they wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon). Today: Empty.
Had to go in for medical reasons (non-coronavirus related). Actually have to go back a couple of times over the next few days to ferry some things to a friend in desperate need at Sloan Kettering, so I'll take some more before & after the drop off/pick up.
Very few people on the streets, with absolutely no problem keeping 10-20 ft away from anyone passing by. I took my wife into a medical building, and it was practically empty. No one in the elevators, no "visitors" allowed so I had to go back and wait in the lobby, which was practically empty. She just got the treatment she needed in time: the office closed for the duration after the Dr. saw her.
I grew up in NYC, and the only time I've seen it like this is at about 5 AM on a Sunday morning; and not many of those.
Weird thing is: the marquee lights on the Broadway theaters (on 42nd st) were all ON !?! Go figure.
From Sunday, probably my last waterfall trip this spring. We're under shelter at home orders, although there are some remote areas where I'm sure I could practice social distancing. I'm not sure if I am allowed to travel there.

At Naked Creek Overlook Parking Lot, Shenandoah National Park, Virginia.
A break in the rain allowed me out yesterday to gather some scenes around town. I did some A-B shooting with Sony a7R4 and Canon R using Canon-mount lenses. Here are a few of the Sony shots from the Artist's Alley.
I'm still wowed by the IBIS of the Sony on non-Sony lenses! The last shot is hand held at 1/15 sec without problem.
