The Laowa 15mm looks great as do your wonderful shots here. I've been wanting to get a new lens. Leaning towards the Sigma 35mm f1.2 but this Laowa is interesting to me too.
The Sigma is huge but has autofocus and impeccable quality. It is one of the best lenses for Sony but did I mention it is huge? Love it. The Laowa is brand new to me, seems quite good stopped down, but less than great at large apertures. It is not as well corrected for CA and but is small and takes filters—a rarity amongst lenses this wide. It is also inexpensive.

I'd love some opinions on this as I am totally confused after spending a couple of hours on it !
Kyoto, Japan. Autumn Leaves : at night, in some temples & gardens, they shine lights on the underside of trees. It's a tough one to process (for me) though and I've tried to go for an 'abstract' look.
Laowa 12/2.8 with shift adapter so shooting at 17mm on an A9.
EDIT : something very weird is happening here. I've reprocessed and checked the upload both on my computer and on SmugMug and the bottom two red branches are pinsharp however on uploading here they are clearly blurred - but not the rest of the image. Must be the FM algorithms don't like Red ! Otherwise I can't explain it. Can anyone ?
Dog walk this morning and also this afternoon with the much loved (by me anyway!) Loxia 35 (on A7RIV)
As ever, I forgot to turn off the Steady Shot (in photo 1). I never seem to be able to remember so I will never know if it makes an appreciable difference. Perhaps if I tape a reminder message to the dog's back, that might work!

I always have steady shot on -- otherwise my shots would be too blurry. It's funny when I use one of my Canon DSLRs how wonky things look at 1/20 sec without an IS lens, hand held. I know you mean with tripod -- just being funny, since I almost never use one anymore except for time exposures.

I love your shot -- crisp and ultra-real.

Thanks Jim. I also hate carrying a tripod around but I think this 15 second exposure (winter before breakfast in the UK can be a bit dark!) might have been asking a bit much of the steady shot (and me!). This was taken with an extended version of a very stable Novoflex table-top tripod that I always keep in my bag.
In the Tibetan religious landscape, demons are omnipresent. Many need to be propitiated with prayer and offerings, others are malevolent and must be repelled. This protector emerges from the outer wall of the medieval town of Kagbeni in Lower Mustang. His virility derives from the power of the dominant order of Tibetan Buddhism in this region.
Ronnie, you are in Sweden! All this stuff is not supposed to be there, especially this time of year.
Seriously I don't know how you do it, especially with the focus mechanism of the rII. Beautiful.

Appreciate the info. I went ahead and purchased the SIgma 35 lens. Thank you!

You could also consider the Laowa 12/2.8 (Dustin Abbott has an excellent review on YT) which if bought in Canon mount (there is a Sony mount but ...) can also use the Laowa Magic Adapter which converts it into an excellent 17/4 Shift lens.
I use 100mm square filters with it, Laowa makes an adapter but it vignettes whereas the one form Haida doesn't (but must be used with their filter holder). A very very sharp lens even at f2.8 (and mostly to the corners) and low chroma makes it a fine Astro lens too.
Since I bought it it has become one of my most used lenses, it's not light though ! The 12mm is great (use the Sigma MC-11 or any dumb Canon to E convertor) and the 17mm Shift I use for anything that involves major distortion (buildings, trees, interiors etc.) where a tripod is viable. Far cheaper and mostly more useful than a converted Canon 17/TS
