Its quite a few years since I visited Avebury - although not far from home - it is (I read) the largest Stone Circle in the world - and a Heritage Site - just a few glimpses here last week. A7RIII - all Tamron 28-75 - despite taking a shedload of lenses.
Was there first time more than 10 years ago during a ful-moon night.
Was an amazing experience! Took quite some B&W photos in the moonlight back then.
One amazing fact I learned some weeks ago: the exact distance in meters from the center of Avebury to the center of Stonehenge is exactly the distance the earth turns ( rotates) during one minute on the equator!
They had some astonishing knowlegde back then 5000 years ago...
At the moment, I prefer this one for built structures over the very fit-for-purpose 55/1.8, purely due to the settled rendering with very strong detail (high spatial) giving very fine colour tone separation. The lens actually weighs 170g. Maybe there is something to the 'few glass-air surfaces' idea, this one has but three groups.
