To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, the National Air & Space Museum in Washington DC put together a 17-minute presentation that was projected on the 555 feet (169m) tall Washington Monument. Starting with President JFK's going to the moon speech in 1962, it went through the sequence of human science development, from bow drill for fire to the blasting off of the Saturn V, to the capsule's return to the earth. It was beautifully done and I was happy I went to witness this celebration even though it was still 95 degrees (35 degree C) at 11:30 at night.
WOW! Awesome, Douglas! That is really an amazing presentation, glad you could document it so well. I've always been a huge fan of the space program, and am honored to have a daughter who pursued a career in PhD Astrophysics. I'm just a fan of both!
I did a shoot today in Manhattan and both my model and I almost died. Activatedfx wrote:
Stuck inside today due to the 100ş+ heat here in Brooklyn. (I actually went on a Target run, which is about a 1 mile round-WALKING-trip here in BK, and was feeling dizzy by the time I got home. So I stayed home after that.)
Since it's always 5pm somewhere, I decided to quench my thirst and hone my product photography skills, so I made a little cocktail setup. A7ii + Tamron SP 90mm 2.5 Macro and a few lights and reflectors.
Chariman's Reserve spiced rum, cranberry juice, lime and orange sparkling spring water. Shaken with ice.

I think with the buildings absorbing and reflecting the sun, the cars, busses and subways, and the A/Cs running all day, it was more like 110+ on the sidewalk.. I’ve often said Brooklyn is Hell, but today it feels like it! Lol
Yeah this isn't great outdoor shoot weather. Too hot for the park and too hot for a model shoot, it's just oppressive. Activatedfx wrote:

Thank you Jim! The show was really spectacularly done with the light, sound effects and the big screens. Watching the projection on the 555 feet tall Washington Monument was quite an experience. I noticed that they did not include the scene of the American flag planted on the moon. Maybe they felt the moon landing was not just an American achievement, but a human race achievement, or maybe they didn't want to offend certain groups of people... I really am glad I decided to go to document this celebration despite of the crowds and the hot weather. Maybe your daughter will help put human on Mars!

Hallo Helena . Another great set of B&W‘s here !
You are always inspiring with your photos, and I can imagine, even Trondheim can be a bit grey at some days in summer.
Thank you! Yes, fortunately it can, because I don't like sunny days in summer and prefer not to take photos then.
Saw the posts about hot weather. Sounds awful. This weekend it'll get very hot here as well and at the worst possible timing. My parents and brother will come and visit for the first time in two years and stay in our apartment, which is perfectly fine for two people, but five... To make matters even worse the house is being re-painted, so most of the time we need to keep the windows closed and it's supposed to be around +30C even at night! (In Scandinavia there is no AC in private homes since such hot weather is rare.) If I disappear from FM you'll know I didn't survive.
Some abandoned stuff and buildings and a burnt-down gas station.
